Just as Jesus
called children to Him, so we welcome
children and young people to St Peter's and
aim to introduce them to Jesus.
Children and young people are
important and integral members of St Peter's
and our aims for them reflects the vision of
the church as a whole.
We want them to:
- Learn to
worship
God who made them and loves them.
- Feel they
belong
to the church family by building
meaningful relationships.
-
Grow in their faith by
understanding biblical truths that will
impact their young lives.
- Feel confident in
sharing
their faith in Jesus with their
friends.
- Begin to
serve
the church, family and wider community
Our work with children is
led by our Children's Ministry Co-ordinators -Rachael
Spencer and Anne Davies
Our main
service starts at 10.30am. On most Sundays,
children stay in church for the first 10
minutes or so of the service and then go to
groups according to school years. Towards
the end of the service, the groups come to
the front of church to share with the whole
congregation what they have been doing.
Children then return to their parents so
that we can conclude our act of worship all
together as a church family.
The group leaders are as follows:
Creche
(0-3yrs) -
Liz Bowes-Smith
Pebbles (preschool) - Rachael Spencer
Stepping Stones (infant) -
Anne Davies
Xsteam Rock (juniors) -
Nicky Goldstone
Solid
Rock (secondary) - Nick Alexander
On
the 2nd Sunday of the month, we all stay
together for a service of all age worship
which aims to be shorter than usual and more
accessible for children. There is still a
crèche.
On a 5th Sunday the under 11s meet together
for Kids Praise. Older children stay in the
service and some take part in the music for
that. .
On the 5th Sunday there is
a workshop for children aged under 11yrs
with older children staying in the service.
